Show notes, Laura’s websites and links:
Pre-pandemic Laura launched herself into the art world and spent her career as a performer, professional Pilates and functional movement bodyworker, creating an Art Consultancy and as an International Development Manager for the Royal Academy of Dance.
Laura has worked these past 3 years as a member of the Channel Island Integrative Health Alliance (CIIHA) with other health professionals, doctors, and researchers, and as a freelance broadcaster, lobbyist, and networker for an Awakened World.
She created three public conferences known as the Covid Conversations which were the inspiration for Dr. Tess Lawrie to create the Better Way Conference in Bath 2022.
Laura was one of the organisers for that event and co-hosted Panel 3 on Activism alongside GB News journalist Neil Oliver. Laura's new initiative Universal Hug-Day starts on April 1st, 2023.
Laura shares her awakening journey and how things began for her with the pandemic lockdowns which felt “really wrong” from the beginning.
She talks about how the gift of the pandemic has been a fast awakening for many people, and the coming together of people seeing the light and the fabulous connections that are being made.
Laura dives deep into the ‘Covid Conversations’ she organised when living on the small island of Guernsey in the English Channel in September and November 2021.
When Dr Tess Lawrie joined ‘Covid Conversations Part Three’ in February 2022 in person, she asked Laura to help her organise the Better Way Conference that took place in Bath in May 2022.
Laura explains how there was such love, authenticity, genuine compassion and drive among the people at the Better Way Conference because everyone was so happy to physically meet each other, and this is where she has come to in her journey now.
She says we must not forget, but we must let go and not engage in the narratives - whether it be war, climate or Covid – lest they take us down with them and affect who we are.
She explains how she was too wrapped up in the problems, and how this is a problem now for many other awakened souls. She has understood that people are going to wake up in their own time because it is all coming “tumbling out.”
Our role now is to start sharing joy, peace, love, and compassion for everyone – even those perpetrators who have done this to us - because it is not our place to take them to task.
Laura explains she has gone through a massive shift towards working on her inner being.
This led her to her great friend and mentor Jamie Lowe who said “if we don’t open people’s hearts, if we don’t get people to start to work from a heart place rather than an ego place, .. these narratives are just going to keep sucking us in.”
Laura explains that Universal Hug-Day is about becoming conscious beings, and “we need to realise that it’s about focusing from the right place, and letting the ego mind take a rest.”
Laura then expands that following our intuition is vital. People are now realising that those institutions and journalists that they trusted are not telling them the truth, and “if you want to be able to enter that place of intuition, then turn your TV off.”
She explains that once you take yourself away from devices and make that observation about how you feel, then you realise that actually you are in control of how you can be.
Next Laura dives deeper into Universal Hug-Day and how it can help us: “If you are allowing yourself to be so terrified that you’ve got your spade out and you’re digging your bunker, there is a great chance you won’t survive very well with this,” she explains.
She continues that we have to learn to accept and cope with what is happening – not from our fight and flight ego mind – but give in. We have to come to the point when we create a future based on connection and community.
Laura shares some beautiful anecdotes from her journey and how this is the most exciting time to be on this planet – even if it doesn’t feel like it sometimes.
She explains that when meeting “the broken,” it is not their fault, and if you see someone crying and struggling with these times, understand that until you are completely broken you cannot grow.
She finishes with the deeper question of dark shadow and karma. “We would not know how deeply asleep mankind has been had it not been for these players,” she explains. They will get their comeuppance, but it is not for us to do that, for it affects us and the collective if we become no better than them.
We must not feed the beast, but if we embrace creativity and have an every day hug day, we can create a new way of being.
The Universal Hug-Day launch party takes places in London in Hyde Park at Speakers Corner on April 1st 2023.
